The ritual of writing the Kumkum Patrika is the traditional start of sending wedding invitations, beginning with the Gods.
Things to Buy / Requirements
- Red pen
- Kumkum Patrikas (wedding invitations)
- Roli (red powder)
- Moli (sacred thread)
- Rice
Step-by-Step Instructions

Start writing the Kumkum Patrika with a red pen.

Write the first invitation in the name of Shri Binayakji Maharaj (Shri Ganeshji).

Write the second invitation in the name of Goddess Lakshmiji.

Write subsequent invitations for the clan deities and other Gods and Goddesses.

Draw a Sankhiya (Swastika) with Roli on all the invitations.

Tie a separate Moli to each Kumkum Patrika.

Sprinkle Roli and spread rice on the invitations to formally invite the deities.

Let the invitations dry for an hour or so, then place them respectfully at a high place in the house.
